Are you looking for a hands-on real world instructional fly fishing
trip near the Phoenix/Scottsdale area?
Have you been dreaming of fly fishing but dont know where
to start?
Then look no further! The Hook Up has outfitted this fly fishing
adventure specifically for the beginner, on a beautiful river
within an hour of town.
The lower Salt River is a tailwater fishery located below Saguaro
Lake. This gorgeous stretch of river carves through the Sonoran
Desert, which provides rugged mountain ranges and lush vegetation
as your backdrop. The river is stocked from fall through spring
with rainbow trout, and has a healthy population of largemouth
bass and other warm water species. Wading the rivers currents
and pools will reward you not only with an incredibly scenic way
to spend a morning or afternoon, but also with a chance at catching
fish.
This adventure is perfectly suited for first timers or anyone
looking for instruction in a real world setting. We have brought
the traditional classroom setting and instruction to the excitement
of the river. The emphasis of this trip is on instruction and
technique, not on the catching (although we tend to agree, that
is the fun part!). Anglers will develop and learn to advance their
fly fishing skills, as well as learn how to cast, shoot and mend
line, tie knots, how to read water, and basic stream entomology
and fly selection.
This adventure also includes use of Orvis rods and reels, waders,
boots, line, leaders, tippet, and flies. If you have your own
equipment, bring it and we will help you get familiar with it.
The rivers close proximity to Phoenix/Scottsdale makes this an
easy trip to fit around any schedule. The Hook Ups certified
casting instructors and full time guides make this an easy trip
to springboard your fly fishing obsession!
