This is a seasonal adventure for anglers coming to visit the Grand Canyon, and looking for a good option to hit the water while they’re here in Arizona. Nesteled in the pine tree forests surrounding Williams and Flagstaff, dozens of beautiful high country lakes and streams await anglers looking to spend a day chasing fish in Arizona’s high country. These waters are as diverse as they are beautiful!
Lake Mary is perhaps the most popular choice to anglers traveling through the Grand Canyon area. Easy to get to, and just a gorgeous setting, Lake Mary offers great Northern Pike fishing to both conventional anglers and fly rodders. Pike are some of the most aggressive fish in fresh water, and could be the most exciting fish to catch on or near the surface. They are known for violent strikes, and hard pulling battles. Conventional anglers use a variety of presentations, but buzzbaits and large topwaters are a favorite technique. Fly fishermen use a variety of presentations as well, with some of the more popular flies being large surface poppers and gurglers, and a variety of streamers and bunny leaches. This trip is outfitted with a fully tournament rigged Ranger bass boat, G.Loomis rods, Shimano reels, and all the gear and equipment needed for the day.
Lower Lake Mary and Marshall Lakes are the trout anglers answer to heaven near the Grand Canyon. These beautiful natural lakes are shallow and weedy, and offer some of the highest nutrients and growth rate of any lakes in the state. Easily wadeable, these lakes offer great access and are a perfect spot to learn fly fishing or advance your fly fishing skills. The lakes are home to rainbow trout, and anglers can expect to use a variety of flies from dries to nymphs to streamers. This trip is outfitted with a full line of Orvis fly fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lines, flies, waders, and boots. All the equipment needed for the day is provided.
